FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE THEATRE UNBOUND WAKES UP SHAKESPEARE WITH Theatre Unbound presents Ann-Marie MacDonald's rollicking revision of Shakespeare, Goodnight Desdemona (Good Morning Juliet), April 11-27, 2008. "What does it take to turn Othello and Romeo and Juliet into comedies?" asks Unbound Artistic Director Stacey Poirier. "A befuddled professor, a magic wastebasket, a little cross-dressing, a lot of swordfights, and a script that will make you laugh like crazy whether you know the Shakespeare or not." Goodnight Desdemona (Good Morning Juliet) runs April 11-27, 2008 at the Neighborhood House at the Paul and Sheila Wellstone Center, 179 Robie Street East in St. Paul (see show calendar below). Ticket prices are $18 (regular adult), $15 (student/senior), and $12 (groups of 8 or more; or veterans and active military). Reservations: 612-721-1186 or order online at www.theatreunbound.com. Chekov Project curator Genevieve Bennett directs the show. "This play is a whirlwind of action from start to finish," says Bennett. "Many dramatists tackle the theme of the search for one's true identity, but none with the same wit, whimsy and sense of humor as Ann-Marie MacDonald - none, that is, but Shakespeare." Well-known Twin Cities actor and Unbound company member Delta Rae Giordano portrays Constance Ledbelly, the grad student heroine of Goodnight Desdemona. Anna Sundberg (Great River Shakespeare Festival) is Desdemona (among others), Nicole Devereaux (2007 Ivey Award winning production of Love, Janis) is Juliet, Nicholas Crandall (British American Drama Academy) is Romeo, and Rick Logan (Tony N' Tina's Wedding, We Gotta Bingo) is Othello, as well as the professor who is breaking Constance's heart. Goodnight Desdemona (Good Morning Juliet) has won numerous prizes, including the 1990 Canadian Governor General's Literary Award for Drama. It has seen hundreds of productions across North America and in Japan. This activity is made possible in part by funds provided by the Metropolitan Regional Arts Council through an appropriation by the Minnesota Legislature. PERFORMANCES
