PROTEST: Polyester Press Protest! Nearly a dozen actors picketed the home of Theatre Unbound Artistic Director, Stacey Poirier, on Sunday, November 19, 2006, demanding that a line be removed from Theatre Unbound's 24-Hour Play Project ballot. "Actors have done almost everything for these 24-Hour Plays," said actor representative Lola Faakouta. "We've tap-danced, sung McDonald's commercials, attempted the splits in front of two hundred people." "Also had our facial hair ripped off with duct tape," added Brian Hesser. "Right," said Faakouta. "But there are limits." The line in question, "Weren't we going to spank you at my house one time?" may become an element in the sixth annual 24-Hour Play Project and benefit gala on February 10th, 2007, if it garners sufficient votes in the election. Follow this link to cast your own vote. Polls close on November 30. "I'm just not going to say that," said Ariel Pinkerton, another actor on the line. "Words lead to actions and, well, spanking ... that could just get really messy." One actor, who wishes to remain anonymous, had a change of heart near the end of the protest, offering conditions that would make the quote more palatable. Ms. Poirier did not respond to repeated requests for an interview, although she did turn on the sprinklers.
